Two Days Chuck-Full of Fun!

I type this as I sit here in my pajamas with no bra on...watching five tractors work in the fields behind my house. (Prep for the school that is going back there...) I have a monster cold, and so I've decided that this day of spring break will be a lazy-hazy one. None of my kids are dressed yet, and they have been watching cartoons since 7:30am. I had grand plans of waking up early and working out, (I started a really great, but really intense, workout program called 'P90X' 2 weeks ago...it's awesome! I've already seen changes in my body and all that good stuff. But it's a kick butt program that you can't do half way. Or when you are sick.) .... and getting a lot of things done in my house. Just "power through" my cold. Welp, change of plans. :o) Maybe I'll squeeze a work out in later, but for right now, my bootie is happy on this computer chair.

We got back from a really great little family trip last night. We used SLC Connect Pass' , and visited a record number of fun places in Utah in a record number of days. [With the Connect Pass, you get entrance into like 15 attractions in Utah. We got a 2 day pass, so we had 2 days to get as many of these places in as possible to REALLY get our money's worth. ;o) ]

Tuesday Morning: Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum. This is always a hit with my kids.

In this picture, Jon has instructed them all to look scared because a dinosaur is coming to get them. You can tell Brady has a true love of dinos. :o)

Jon, teaching them about erosion. This really is a cool place. And Ella begged me to take this picture of her, so I had to post it.

Then our journey took us to Carl's Jr. for lunch. Great pic, I know.

Then we went to Living Planet Aquarium.

Cody it touching an actual Sting Ray here. The kids LOVED this.

At this point in our little adventure, it started to snow outside. Put a little kink in our plans of going to the Zoo next. So we went and checked into our hotel a little early, and played played played. I brought some board games to play with the kids, and lots of snacks. We also swam in the pool for a long time. Of course, I didn't take any pictures of any of that. But we all had a great time for the rest of Tuesday. It ended with us ordering pizza to our room, watching a movie, and falling asleep. Tuckered out. (Those of us without horrible colds slept better than those WITH horrible colds.)

After a nice morning of cartoons, muffins and fruit (courtesy of a prepared mother), the kids were excited to hear we were going to try and get to the zoo that morning before the weather got bad again. The further East we traveled, the more apparent it became that we were very ill prepared for this trip to the Zoo because there was still snow on the ground! Brrrr...... But darn it, we were going to the Zoo. And really, we had a great time. Once we got walking up and down the hills in there, we warmed up a little bit. Brady LOVED the Elephants.

We then went to the Lion House for lunch, which is included with the Connect Pass. So delicious! We were rejuvenated, and ready for some more action. So off to the Clark Planetarium! We saw a show in the Dome Theater entitled "Ultimate Universe". Very cool. Even if it did teach the big bang theory. ;o)

Brenna is pretending there is no oxygen for her to breath in the second picture. If you couldn't tell, she just hates drama.

Brady on a moon rock. :o)

You might think our adventure is over for the day, but no. We then go to the the Children's Museum at Discovery Gateway. Fun, but so crowded we didn't stay too long.

Ella in the 'construction zone' trying to work with some bratty kids to build something. She didn't stay there long.

Then it was off to McDonald's for some ice cream, and then back to the Planetarium for an IMAX show about Mummies. Brady, Ella, and I fell asleep within 10 minutes, and got a little power nap. :o) Then we finally left SLC, and headed down to Utah County for our last stop. Thanksgiving Point Gardens. We were better prepared for cold weather this time...It was beautiful, but cold.

Three of us were crying by the end of the second day, and we were very tuckered out, but it really was fun. The kids loved it so much that they have already asked if we can do this next year for Spring Break. lol... No wonder I just want to sit today. :o) Happy Spring Break everyone!

It was a crazy two days, Ally deserves a little vacation to recover from the vacation. Ally was fully prepared on all accounts, all I had to do was drive, it was great! My favorite / most special thing that happened during the two days was when Cody walking beside me in the Dinosaur museum reached his arm around my waist, leaned his head into my chest area, pulled me tight against him and said: "Dad, I am so happy you are spending time with us during our spring break, thanks!" Those are the small special moments that are akin to what Elder Ballard referred to in his conference talk:

"First, recognize that the joy of [parenthood] comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction." I am glad I had this moment with Cody because Ella sure had me on edge at various times throughout the two days.

I think she is some sort of Star Trek Borg like creature. She has so much energy and passion for such a little girl that I wonder if she doesn't suck it right out of me; leaving a sulking brooding a-hole ready to squash that passion into the ground. For instance, last night as we were winding down and getting ready for bed she "accidentally" bit Brady so hard that he was convulsing as he cried. SQUISH SQUISH!!!

Anyhow, the connect pass was awesome, Little America hotel is great, I love my kids - even Ella - and my wife is sexy, beautiful and wonderful. What more could a guy ask for?

It sounds like you had such a BLAST!! I seriously want to do that....so you'll have to send me the info on the Connector Pass thing. That is an AMAZING idea. My kids would be in heaven. I may feel a little like Jon though.... I need to "squash" something, once in a while. (as I was telling you on the phone....oops!) There are those great moments, too, thank goodness....so it brings me back to reality. :o) Back to your vacation.... I seriously can't believe you were able to go do so many things. I'm sorry the weather wasn't better. The hotel part...and no cleaning up....and eating out ....are just a few of the very best parts, huh?? I'm impressed with how prepared you were...and the board games idea is awesome. Will you plan our next family outing?? I'd appreciate it. You're great.... No wonder Jon likes you so much, huh?? ;o) BTW, I'm so impressed with Cody, and what kind of a kid he is. We love to have him around...and he is seriously so respectful and FUN. Love him.
