I have only been to a tanning bed a handful of times my whole life. Love it every time I go. But, my sister had a mole removed from her back several years ago that turned out to be cancerous, and recently my dad just had some spot on his nose removed that was cancerous. (granted, my sister WORSHIPED the sun when she was in Jr. high and H.S. We lived in Florida...it was easy to do. ) SO...I'm thinking that it may not be a good idea for me to tan. My problem is, I look so much better with a tan. I really do. :o) Feel better too. I've been to do a "Spray Tan" twice, and actually liked it. But it can get pricey, and it smells funny. So do all the other self-tanning lotions out there. So I have finally decided to try one of the daily body lotions, that is supposed to gradually darken the tone of your skin. I took a picture of my pasty arm today, Day 1. I'll take another picture on Day 3, Day 5, and Day 7...I'll see if it actually works, or if it just makes me stinky and orange.

This is SO my drama in life, except for one thing - your skin tans easily, mine - I need to work at it. I don't have that gorgeous brown skin. I have been around the block with tanners and tanning beds and the sun. I'm going to die of skin cancer, I'm certain of it. I'm excited to see your progress!
This is the ONE thing I hate about summer, the fact that I am not tan, oh and that I don't have nice arms.
What lotion are you using? I am always looking for new tanning lotions. Good luck. I can't wait to see day 5!
Funny thing, I was going to stop and pick me up one of those gradual toners tomorrow after work. I have pictures of me as a child with tan skin, however, I don't think it is possible anymore! I wonder if one's skin chemistry changes after high school!?
I was thinking about buying the Jergens Daily Glow, or there is an Oil of Olay one that I hear does not stink (according to Marti Skold of Good Things Utah). Let us know what you think and Good Luck!
I think that's what I got...the Jergens Daily Glow. It has a scent to it...but it doesn't smell like tanning lotion, ya know? It's not bad at all.
I love tanning it is seriously is the best therapy!!! I want to know the lotion you are using too! I am wanting to know if it works too!
Carrie and I went tanning last year before I went to California with the High School Choir. I feel so pampered when I do it but, I get really nervous because there is so much cancer in my family. Eventually the pampering feeling gives way to the fear and I stop going. 'Course I need to lose a lot (LBS) before I feel like showing off a tan! haha
I love to go tanning.... I feel like it's so relaxing. I just don't go anymore!! ha ha Who knows why...... I love the tanning lotion stuff. I love the Lancome stuff.... It's so good!! They have stuff for your face, too. It's wonderful, and doesn't leave streaks or anything. I don't even think the smell was bad. Anne Marie told me about it last year. She uses it. If you want to know the exact name of it, let me know. (The bottles are upstairs.) Good luck!! I'm excited to see your progress!! ha ha
I'm with Heather & Carrie, tanning beds are a great place to meditate. K that sounds weird, but whatever :) Since I have tons of moles I decided I better not let my skin see the sun too much. I'm not patient enough to use a lotion for 7 days.
I have to tell you that I think Asher has a little crush on Brenna. Probably has since Miss Stacie's class. He was riding around the neighborhood today on my husbands motorcycle and the only thing he told me about the ride was that he got to see Brenna. He would be very mad at me for telling, but it's too cute!
I like the lotions too, but have yet to find one I love....so I'll be interested to see how it goes....
Let me know what works for you!! I also LOVE to tan!! Bri used to tease me and call me his Sun Goddess. Swimming or the beach for me is sitting by the pool soaking in the rays. I also look much better with a tan, and used to tan well, but it has ruined my face. Dark spots, white spots you name it, they're on my face. I've also had 2 moles on my back removed. Needless to say I went from Sun Goddess to PARANOID. Chris M.
Okay I found your blog and love it. It is really fun to chat with everyone, since our lives are so busy with our families. Good luck with the tanning. I was just telling Dan today that I think I will start tanning next month because I will be done feeding Trey. But I too am scared about the cancer thing. However, I will tell you be carefull with the lotion thing. I am sure this only happens to me but I used it and then went on a cruise and I don't know if it was the salt water or the wetsuit but it rubbed off in some places and not on others and I looked really frightening. I had like dark spots and white spots all over my body. So if this doesn't happen to you, let me know which one you like. HAPPY BLOGGING! Can't wait for the results!
Hi Ally, I'm new to blogging too. I love your family photo. Justiss was telling me the other day what an awesome step-mom you are. Sounds like she really enjoys living with you. Thanks for letting her go shopping with me. It's fun to have her around.
As for the tanning, whatever sun I get while playing outside with the boys is the amount of tanning I get. Good luck with the Jergens.
